ALBA  LOCIA CONTRIN HUT  CONTRIN REFUGE  S. NICOLO' REFUGE

In Alba di Canazei, near the Cacciatora Hotel, take the path n°602 that enters plate in the wood. After around 100 meters, it becomes steeper and sometimes the slope is around 40%. Than the path goes up with around 10 sharp turns and, after having gone up over 400 meters, in 40 minutes you can arrive at Refuge Locia Contrin (1800 meters), at the beginning of the wonderful Contrin Valley.  The path goes on on the left of the hut and becomes plate: for around 1 km here are no slopes more! Here you can admire the landscape on the Colac (2731 meters) on the right, the Marmolada (3342 meters) on the left and the Sella Group behind you. Crossed the river with a little bridge, the path begins to go up again, with a slop steeper and steeper; on the ground there are a lot of rocks that make the walking more difficult. In around 15 minutes you arrive at Refuge Contrin  (2016 meters). After a little break both to admire the landscape and to get one's breath back, take the path n° 608 that after having turned on the left crosses the river. The slope becomes steeper, with a lot of sharp turns and straight stretches and, after around 1 hour, you arrives at Refuge S. Nicolo'  (2340 meters).  Here you can admire the landscape on Contrin Valley and Sella Group north, the Marmolada east, the Crepa Neigra and Colac west and S. Nicolò Valley south.
