Curiousness |
|
In this page I want to describe some curiosities and advices about different subjects that can be usefull for turists that will decide to spend their holidays in Fassa Valley.
TREKKING
During an uphill walk, remember the maxim of the mountaineer "Short step and long way".
In order to rise the salivation during a demandin walk, someone suggests chewing a blade of grass.
Going up with constant steps and few stops is profitable than a fast ascent with a lot of stops.
Wear always the proper footwear for each walk (climbing boots); beware of the ones that walk with tennis shoes or mocassins.
It is always recommandeble putting into the rucksack a k-way, even in sunny days (personal experiences).
WEATHER FORECAST
Before of each tour consult accurately the weather forecast.
Beware of the weather forecast you see on TV or you read in the newspapers: they're too general. Consult the one of "Meteo Arabba", that you can find in each Turist Office or on the wab www.fassa.com.
If you want to produce a self-made forecast, look at the zone of Roda de Vael or Tires: if there the sun shines, it'll be fair for the whole day; on the contrary, take care: it'll rain. Often the menagers of refuges use this system to give advices to the tourits...and it runs!
WATER
Whatever some mountain dwellers may say, the water of the valley is drinkable almost everywhere, including fountains and refuges. At the same way, you can drink the water of streams and springs. Maybe the mountain dwellers have never drunk the water of Milan..or maybe someone want to reach other aims...
Take care, because even if it is drinkable, the water of the valley is very calcareous, and so it could cause problems to sensible people.
