CAMPITELLO - PERTINI REF.

This tour is a wonderful alternative to reach the Refuge Pertini  from Campitello, avoiding the car or the cableway, and enjoying also a magic landscape on the high Fassa Valley. However you have to calculate for a strong effort. The starting point is the center of Campitello, from where you have to climb up along Rodella street in the direction of Duron Valley. After the first steep slope (called "Lesta") you'll cross a little plateau untill the little Fraine Refuge. Then follow the main street that after about 10-20 meters turns left to the bank of the "Giagres da Ciampedel" (Hunters of Campitello) before entering the wood. At this point on the right begens a little path, very difficult to be seen and marked only by a road sign with the notice "Strada Forestale Chiarvena, km 1,8". Take this path that begins at once to climb up the mountain in the wood; in spite of the incline, the bottom is always in a very good condition, except some rolling stones. Go on for around twenty minutes, with a steady incline, crossing every now and then little streams. After this part the path leaves the wood and reaches s wonderful meadow called Chiarvena. The way is alweys rather steep and climbs up among the old abandoned "tobié", but the landscape on the Sassolungo just in front of you and on the Catinaccio just behind you is fabulous. After around a quarter of hour the path becomes in some sretches a little slippery, but you can finally see the Refuge Pertini  (2300m) on the top of a little hill just in front of you. Don't deceive, it's not so near as you could think!!! You still have to reach the basis of the hill and climb up till the top through a serie of steep sharp turns; this way you'll reach the backside of the refuge: to enter it, turn right on the meadow some meters before the building. This tour is the best choice for the ones that would like a mountain walk in the silence, far from the noise of the other "touristic" paths.
