Q SELLARONDA P |
|
The Sellaronda is maybe the most famous ski tour of the Dolomites and it deserves all its popularity. It's the complete tour of the Sella group, always with skis at the feet, alternating all kind of cableway with wonderful skiings. We have to add also the landscape, that in sunny clear days is one of the most delightful of the Alps.
The Sellaronda is called also "tour of the 4 passes" because the tour passes through the 4 most famous passes of the Dolomites: Pordoi, Sella, Gardena and Campolongo. The Sellaronda reaches this way the land of four ladin valleys: Fassa Valley, Gardena Valley, Badia Valley and Livinallongo. The start can be in each one of these valleys and, at the end of the tour, you will return at the same point from where you leaved.
This wonderful tour is not so difficult: the tracks are all meduim, except some stretches where the bad conditions of the snow or the stream of tourists can damage the piste. It is necessary a little bit of training: you'll leave early in the morning and you won't come back before 3 or 4 hours (you have to add also a little lunch-pause).
You can enjoy this tour in two directions: the PSELLARONDA, clockwise, and the QSELLARONDA, anticlockwise. There are no differences (in time or difficulty) between the two alternatives.
Clicking down here you'll find a precise description of both tours, with the start estabilished conventionally in Fassa Valley (but, I repeat, you can leave from evereywhere in the four valleys).
