Sellaronda

The orange Sellaronda consists in the clockwise tour of the Sella group. The starting point in this case is Refuge Lupo Bianco  (1721m) on the road to Pordoi and Sella Pass, but you can leave everywhere. Here it is an accurated description of the tour.

Orange Sellaronda Pradel - Rodella (s.1724 e.2228 l.2428)

Through this cablewayyou can reach in a few minutes the skiarea Col Rodella, just in front of the Sassolungo. From the station it is necessary to go down, getting over a not so demanding slope, untill the starting of the chair lift Cinque Dita.

Orange Sellaronda  Cinque Dita (s.2129 e.2353 l.954)

It is a modern covered chair lift with four places. It will bring you in a flash untill the foot of Sassolungo, with a wonderful landscape on the western part of Sella. The first stretch of the slope is rather steep, then you have to turn right, leaving on the left the station of the chair lift Grohman and going towards Sella Pass. The track becomes a little narrow and goes on alternating gentle slopes and flat stretches untill Refuge Sella Pass , crossing the slope coming from the City of Stones. At this point you go on towards Gardena Valley through an easy and rather large track. The incline is very gentle and, sometimes, you're forced to use the sticks. This slope is very relaxing and panoramic, going through the snow covered woods on the northern side of Sella Group. After a few kilometers you'll reach the starting of the chair lift Piz Setëur; you have to leave the facility on the left and going on in the wood, until the zone of Plan de Gralba (1800).

Orange Sellaronda

In Plan de Gralba you have to go beyond the cableway Piz Sella untill a little skilift, that helps to gain a little bit of height, in order to continue the discent. At the top it is necessary to leave on the right, towards Selva. The slope becomes a little narrow and the incline rises; you have to pay attention to the iced stretches. After ariund a kilometer you'll reach Plan (1605m), at the next lift.

Orange Sellaronda  Plan

This chair is rather strange: it permits only getting over a little difference in height, and as a consequence it is only few meters long; there's no footrest too! At the top go on towards Selva through an easy track; next to the village you have to pay attention: at a certain point you have to turn right, take off the skis and cross the Road on a metal bridge. Then you'll reach the next chair lift, on the eastern side of Gardena Valley.

Orange Sellaronda  Costabella                **Connection Saslong

This chair lift climbs up the woods of Selva until the top of a little hill. From here a rather wasy slope leads again towards the village, but in the northern part. Around 100 meters before the ski schools, there's the next cableway.

Orange Sellaronda  Danterceppies (s.1600 e.2300)

The cableway Danterceppies leads in around five minutes to the homonymous top (2300m) just over Gardena Pass (2137m). So you can enter in Badia Valley. In the forst stretch you can find some difficulties due to the often bad conditions of the snow and the numerous humps. Then the track crosses the road and you'll find a wonderful large slope that, with gentle inclines and without difficulties, goes down towards Colfosco. Next to the little village of Badia Valley, after the station of the cableway Frara, the track goes on easy and beautiful. After around 1 km the slope stops and it is necessary to take a chair lift in order to reach Corvara.

Orange Sellaronda Orange Sellaronda Borest - Boè      **Connection Gran Risa    **Connection Pralongià

Through the chair lift Borest (descending) you'll reach the center of Corvara, after having got over a camping. Next to the station lies the modern cableway Boè, that in around ten minuets leads to the top at 2000 m. Following the signs to Campolongo Pass you have to the slope that goes down with a rather demanding incline through a lot of sharp turns. In some stretches it is possible to find some heaps of snow and humps, making the discent a little more difficult. Going on carefully for 15 minutes you'll reach Campolongo Pass (1875m).

Orange Sellaronda Bec de Roces

Two skilifts (the first one is classical, the other is an "anchor") lead to Refuge Bec de Roces (2160m). The following track goes down the southern slope of the mountain; it is rather large and in the central part the incline is rather demanding, but absolutely not difficult. In a few minutes you'll reach Pian Boè (1810m); going on you'll arrive in Arabba. A little narrowing of the track causes no problems. At the end you'll arrive in the pist served by a little skilift, next to the chair lift Burz; in an easy way you'll reach the end of the slope, where it is necessary to take of the skis, in order to cross the little village of Arabba (1602m) in Livinallongo.

Orange Sellaronda  Orange Sellaronda  Forcella Europa/Porta Vescovo (s.1631 e.2478-2534 l.2689-2684)

After having crossed the center of Arabba you can choose the following facility: the old cableway Porta Vescovo leads to Refuge Gorza (2478m), but it is a rather slow lift; on the other side the modern cableway Forcella Europa leads to the 2534m of the to, from where in a few minutes you can reach the Refuge Gorza . The following slope is surely the most difficult of the whole orange Sellaronda. In the first stretch a very steep slope with a lot of heaps leads to the basis of the hill where the refuge lies; the snow here is often in bad conditions (you'll arrive here in the afternoon!) and the pist is also always crowded. After this first part, turning left, follow the signs to Pordoi Pass. A short flat stretch leads to the second steep slope, always full of heaps and humps. Only in the last part, when the track becomes narrow, the difficulties decrease, but at this point you've reached the following facility.

Orange Sellaronda Orange Sellaronda  Fodom - Saletei (p. 1855 a.2230 l.2159)

Through this two modern chair lifts you can gain a liitle bit of height until Pordoi Pass. From the top an easy and large slope in a few minutes leads to the last chair lift of the whole tour.

Orange Sellaronda Lezuo (p.2076 a.2418 l.1323)

Through this covered chair lift you'll reach Refuge Sass Becé . Here you can choose the discent: taking the easy path on the left of the refuge or trying to go down the steep slope on the right you'll arrive in every case in the Belvedere hollow. Goin along the valley remain always on the left, following the signs to Refuge Lupo Bianco  (here it's very difficult to get your bearings, because the tracks intersect). After having reached the chair lift Kristiania the slope becomes narrow and, getting over a first slope, goes down through the wood with sharp turns towards Mortic Valley, where the Refuge Lupo Bianco lies, the starting point of your tour.
