Sellaronda

The green Sellaronda consists in the anticlockwise tour of the Sella Group. The starting point in this case in the Refuge Lupo Bianco (1721m) on the road to Pordoi and Sella Pass but you can leave everywhere. Here it is an accureted description of the tour.

Sellaronda green Lupo Bianco (s.1721 s.2154 l.1702)    Sellaronda green

Through this cableway you can reach in a few minutes the Belvedere, on the side of Sass Becé. Here it is necessary to go down along the slope for a hundred meters until the starting of two chairlifts, with the one to Sass Becé (2154m).

Sellaronda green  Sass Becé (s.2151 e.2426 l.982)    Sellaronda green

The modern five-sits chairlift of the Sass Becé leads rapidly to the homonymous Refuge, in the middle of a wonderful landscape. The slope goes down in the direction of Arabba. After having got down the little hill of the Refuge Sass Becé, it is necessary to get over a steep slant, followed by a long and large straight stretch with a constant incline: after the bridge over the Street of the Dolomites you'll rich the starting point of the chairlift Fodom (2103m). Turn right long the slopethat goes down towards Livinallongo: it's a very easy slope but also nice that crosses the woods and ends in the center of Arabba (1600m), near the cableway of Porta Vescovo. Now it is necessary to take off the skis and, following the signs to "Sellaronda verde", you'll cross the little village until the chairlift Burz.

Sellaronda green  Burz (s.1610 e.1936 l.956)        Sellaronda green

It's a modern chairlift that lies near a brief skilift. At the top is the Refuge Col de Burz (1936m), behind which begins the slope: it's rather short and shows no difficulties; the blue slope goes along the course of the snowmobiles until Pian Boè (1810m), at the starting point of the next chairlift.

Sellaronda green  Bec de Roces (s.1810 e.2080 l.1005)        Sellaronda green

The chairlift Bec de Roces leads until the homonymous refuge (2080m), over the Campolongo Pass, with a wonderful landscape on the eastern side of the Pordoi and on Livinallongo. The next slope goes down towards the Pass (1875m): it's rather brief and quite steep, but absolutely not difficult (it's a middle slope). The end lies among the hotels of the Pass, where the next chairlift starts.

Sellaronda green  Costarotta        Sellaronda green     *Connection Gran Risa*

It's a modern chairlift that leads until the top of a hill. A little downhill path reaches the real slope, crossing the one coming from the cableway Boè. The slope is very large and in the first stretch the incline is very gentle. After 100 meters you can choose: on the left is the red slope, that goes down towards Corvara, always very large but with a stronger incline; on the right is the blue slope, a little more narrow but, once it enters the wood, the incline becomes gentler. Near the end in Corvara the slopes intersect and in the last stretch the incline is tipical of a red slope. The end is near the cableway Boè.

Sellaronda green Sellaronda green Sellaronda green Borest - Sodlisia - Frara        Sellaronda green

After the two chairlifts Borest and Sodlisia coming from Corvara you'll reach the village of Colfosco. Here starts the modern cableway Plans-Frara that, after the intermediate staion, reaches the area over hte Gardena Pass. From here a brief slope with a not so difficult incline leads till the Pass (2121m).

Sellaronda green  Val Seteus        Sellaronda green

It's a brief chairlift that leads until the cableway Danterceppies coming from Selva di Val Gardena. We are on the fronteer between Badia Valley and Gardena Valley. The slope towards Selvais very long and exciting. After the first stretch with a mild incline, you'll reach a brief narrow passage, often iced, where the slope is a little steeper. Than the slope becomes larger and goes down with wide turns through the woods of Gardena Pass, with a steady incline except some brief stretches. The end in Selva is near the ski school; from here a snow-covered path permits to cross the village until the main street, where the next cableway lies.

Sellaronda green  Ciampinoi (p.1563 a.2254)        Sellaronda green            **Connection Saslong

The modern cableway of the ciampinoi leads from Selva di Val Gardena till the homonymous top (2254m), where you can enjoy a wonderful landscape on the Sassolungo and the west side of the Group of the Sella. Looking towards the Sassolungo, the direction to follow is on the left. After a few downhill meters begins the most difficult slope of the whole Sellaronda. It's a long straight stretch with a sharp incline, that is made more difficult by several humps, by the snow often damaged (you'll face this slope in the afternoon!) and by the crowd of skiers. An easyer alternative to this slope consists in going down a few meters behind the Refuge Ciampinoi along the path that leads to the black slope to Selva, near the chairlift; after the first meters turn right in the slope that gets down the hill of the Ciampinoi in a milder way; but also here the snow conditions  are often horrible! At the end of the steep stretch, the two slopes intersecate, the incline becomes milder and the condition of the snow improves. The slope is here very large and in a few minutes you'll reach Plan de Gralba (1800m).

Sellaronda green  Piz Setëur

Through this chairlift you'll cross a wonderful snow-covered wood in the northern side of the Piz Setëur (2063m), untill the top with the homonymous refuge. Then go on towards the Sella Pass, in front of you, with a very brief slope that, crossing the one coming from Refuge Comici  (be carefull in the intersection!) leads to the basis of the "City of stones".

Sellaronda green Città dei Sassi        Sellaronda green

In my opinion this is the most exciting chairlift of the whole green Sellaronda: a modern chairlift crosses the whole "City of stones" untill the feet of the Sassolungo. Here you can enjoy a wonderful landscape on the western side of the Groupe of Sella (in front of you), on the high Fassa Valley and on the Gardena Pass. A beautiful path leads then to the Sella Pass (2174m), near the homonymous refuge.

Sellaronda green Sasso Levante (p.2174 a.2428 l.1180)

It's a rather old and slow chairlift that goes up the snow-covered slopes between the Sella Pass and the Sassolungo. This chairlift is also the last of the tour. From the top, a sharp turn helps to get down a little hill; go on always on the right, crossing the slope coming from the chairlift "5 Dita". After the station of the cableway "Pradel Rodella" the slope reaches the two chairlifts "5 Dita" and "Salei", but you have to go on along the slope "3-Tre" that through a long straight strech come to the bifurcation between the easy and the difficult slope. From here in a few minutes you'll reach the Refuge Lupo Bianco, the starting point of the whole Sellaronda.
