Malga Ciapela - Punta Rocca - Fedaia Pass
MEDIUM
![]()
START: 3252m END: 2060m
Through three stretches of the modern cableway of
Malga Ciapela you can reach in around 15 minutes the top of the
Marmolada di Rocca (3252m). After the first station of Banc de Antermuoa
(2300m), that drops sheer to Malga Ciapela, the second part leads to
Refuge Serauta (2950m), where the famous Museum of the First World War was
built. The last stretch crosses the highest part of the Glacier of Marmolada until
Punta Rocca.
Here
starts the long slope, called Bellunese, that leads until Fedaia Pass. In the
first part, a long straight stretch with some changes of incline, crosses the
glacier until the little ridge where the Refuge Serauta lies. After the
higher station of an old wood skilift, the slope turns left and the incline
becomes a little seeper. Sometimes the track is rather narrow and a few changes
of incline could make the discent more difficult. After the higher station of
the chair-lift from Fedaia Pass, the track continues on the left, along the
slopes of the Sas da les Undesc, with a few steeper stretches. In the final part
you have to face another norrow passage, but you're near to the end: you can see
the Refuge Passo Fedaia (2060m), where the slope is linked to the one coming
from Padon Pass, in direction of Malga Ciapela.
START: 2626m END: 2074m
The old cableway of Fedaia Pass, starting near the damm, climbes the northern side of the Marmolada until the Refuge Pian dei Fiacconi. The lift is very slow, around 20 minutes. Near the refuge starts the slope, that with some sharp bends comes back to the damm; the incline is not so steep, except brief stretches in the final part.
