SALEI VALLEY

Salei Valley is a not so difficult freeride tour, but a very exciting experience for the loversSalei Valley of this sport. It's the complete discent of salei Valley, from the Skiarea Col Rodella to Pian de Frataces (1715m),near the Refuge Lupo Bianco. The starting point can be comfortably reached through the cableway Pradel-Rodella from Pian de Frataces; now you have to go down the slope until the station of the chairlift "5 Dita": at the end of the lift take the slop on the right and, always on the left side of the track, reach the basis of the little hill where the old skilift "Passo Sella" is now in course of dismantling. In a few minutes you can reach the top of a little crest, where you can see the Refuge Valentini (2213m). The first part of the track is not so difficult: it's a ridge facing south and you won't run into difficulties if you take carefully and widely the curves. In this way you set out for the eastern side of Salei Valley, always on the northern crest (the slope 3-Tre is Salei Valleyon the right). Now, at the height of 200 m, the most difficult part of the tour begins: you have to go through the wooded slopes all around Pian de Frataces. The conifer wood is rather thick and I suggest you to follow the track of the cableway on the right, in order not to loose your bearings. The wood becomes thiner and thiner and so permits you to take wider trajectories. In the last part the track is in the middle of some "tobié" (barns); in a few minutes you'ìll reach the staion of the cableway PRadel Rodella, in the Antermont Valley.

The avalanche danger is usually not so high because of the characteristics of the track (slight incline and thick wood) but it's recommandable to controle every day the snow conditions on the weather report by Tourist Information or on www.arpa.veneto.it
