Saslong Gardena Valley connection Sellaronda

Through this connection with the Sellaronda, you can reach one of the most famous slopes of Gardena Valley, the Saslong, where every year in december takes place the exciting downhill of Alpine Ski World Cup. To reach this slope, that is not recommended to beginners, you have to take the cableway of Selva di Val Gardena.

Through the modern cableway of Selva you can reach the top of the Ciampinoi, in the middle of a wonderful landscape with the huge Sassolungo just in front of you. Go down a few meters and follow the signs to Saslong and S. Cristina, leaving on the left the slope to Plan de Gralba; a small but flat path leads you on the eastern side of the Ciampinoi. Now you have to face the first steep slope: the incline is notable but the track is always rather wide; you can often find some heaps of snow that make the discent a little more difficult. After this part the slope continues on the left with a long streight stretch until the Refuge Sochers (1985m), where you can find a forking: on the right is the red slope, not so steep but oftne with iced stretches, that reaches S. Cristina after a long part in the wood until the wonderful castle of Ciaslat; on the left is the real Saslong, the black slope, more difficult but absolutely more exciting. The first part is very steep, especially on the right side; after the following flat part you reach the so called "gobbe del cammello", a succession of undulations of the ground, where some steep stretches alernate with flat parts. In this way you reach in a few minutes the final part, where the slope becomes smaller and smaller, although the incline remains always the same: at the end of this "funnel" a brief steep stretch leads to the ned; here you can find the cableway Saslong on the left (to go back to the Refuge Sochers) and the Val Gardena Ronda Express to reach the skiarea Seceda.

Through the wonderful cableway Saslong you can reach the Refuge Socher, where it is possible to connect with the slope after the first steep spart. From the refuge you can also go on with the modern six-places chairlift until the top of the Ciampinoi, where you can continue in the Orange Sellaronda to Plan de Gralba.
